Talcott Mountain State Park
Talcott Mountain State Park covers 557 acres and has been under public control since 1965. The highest point is estimated to be 1000 feet, and visitors with excellent eyesight can see an estimated 1200 square miles on a clear day. Hikers may encounter all types of wildlife, from rabbits to deer to bears, as well as wild turkeys, Bald eagles, and many more. Activities include:

The tower trail takes you to the tower and the observation areas. It is 1.25 miles long from parking located at Summit Ridge.
This trail is also a portion of the Blue-Blazed Metacomet Trail.
Heublein Tower
The Heublein Observation Tower located in Talcott Mountain State Park was built in 1914 for
Gilbert Heublein, as a summer home. Gilbert, who was a beverage magnate, promised he would build his fiancé a castle while on a hike in the area. Dwight D. Eisenhower and Ronald Reagan have visited and stayed at the castle. Many people make the 1.25-mile hike to see the structure and enjoy the panorama, especially during fall months, when the autumn colors are vibrant.
