Frozen Pipe Damage
This bathroom was damaged due to a frozen pipe burst. Frozen pipes are very difficult to prevent especially if they are an exterior facing wall or near the footing/foundation. If they are more readily accesible to the elements, especially if the lines are older – they are inevitable going to eventually burst or crack. The formal “burst” does not transpire until the line has been relatively warmed again – think cold = condense; warm = expand. The line then will have a physical burst, which then causes for a stronger current of water and seepage to continue until the main line or water is completely shut off. The seepage then persists and goes down to the lowest point via gravity, hence why only flood cut was made.
