Ice Dam Damage - -Bathroom
These photos show a bathroom that was damaged by an ice dam. As with ice dams, it is accessing and approaching the damages from the interior to confirm the full scope that needs to be addressed first. As it is a bathroom with tile, it usually will not require the backerboard or tiles to be removed; instead it can likely be cleaned, but all drywall and affected ceiling spaces will need to be mitigated. As the backerboard or cement board is purposely made to prevent or at least repel water, it is better less than its drywall counterpart, however it is much more expensive. This does not mean that the affected backerboard is unable to be affected or damaged, but makes rebuild a little easier and mitigation/accessibility more viable for all parties.
